Boundary pushing flavours, wine varieties you know & love
Come on a viticultural adventure
Like the cantankerous Suffolk sheep on our Adelaide Hills vineyard, Kenton Creek Estate, we love to challenge the limits of what’s possible with winemaking. Since 2014, we’ve produced grapes for the Adelaide Hills’ premium household name brands, growing over 220 tonnes per year. Our wilfully wandering sheep sparked an idea for a boutique wine label that evokes the same feeling – rambunctious, refreshingly fun, and a bit of a kack.
Woolly Villain’s small batch wine production – rosé, sauvignon blanc, riesling, chardonnay, pinot rosé, cabernet merlot and pinot noir – is quintessentially Adelaide Hills. With surprising twists like strawberry, guava finger lime and spice, your tastebuds will roam free.
So tantalisingly undefinable,
you gotta try it.
We stick to the classic varieties you know how to pronounce, that are backbone of the region, then bend the rules with flavours… a surprising acidity here, a hint of flower there. A glass of Woolly Villain will transport you to the rich productive soil of the Kenton Valley. As our sheep would tell you, there’s nothing quite like it.
With our roots in premium wine production, we know how to get the most out of our varieties. Our wines are as biodynamic as possible, with minimal sulphides – picked, crushed, made, and bottled soon after, dialled to our desire.
Experimental, bold, and surprising, Woolly Villain takes you on a journey. This isn’t the kind of label that you sip, raising your pinkie to. We believe if you enjoy wine, you’re a ‘wine person.’ Where a good drop brings people together, stokes conversations and belly-holding laughter, and those delightful, disorderly adventures. No snobbery, just good old’ fashioned fun.
